Sideline Supporters Promotion

In having a Sideline Supporters Day, Sport Wellington Region is providing an opportunity to promote positive sideline behaviour (fairplay) while providing the opportunity to further develop partnerships throughout the community and increase long-term capability in dealing with negative behavious in sport.

Sport Wellington Coach of the Month April

Congratulations to Moana Pointon who coached the Wellington East Girls College softball team to winning the National Secondary School championships in Christchurch. Her commitment, dedication and natural ability paid off after three years of attempting to win this event. She selected athletes with potential and turned them into winners. This volunteer coach has a huge passions for her sport which is contagious and has rubbed off on these college students.

Sport Wellington Volunteer of the Month April

Congratulations to Chris Gower who organised a Karate tour to Japan for 21 students, aged between 6 and 16 years, from the Mt. Victoria Dojo. Fundraising has taken four years and included Japanese language lessons as the tour was for cultural reasons, as well as participating in a karate tournament.

The PushPlay Parent Campaign has proved to be a very successful venture according to Sport Wairarapa's Dayle Clarkson. Each family was given a pack filled with great ideas and fun activities that the whole family can enjoy.

Chris Davis - Green Prescription Success

Chris Davis decided to make a change to her lifestyle in 2007 and hasn't looked back since. With the help of Charlotte Cuthbertson of Sport Wellington Region, Chris embarked on an exercise regime that resulted in her completion of the Wellington Round the Bays fun walk.
