The Girls Rugby Development Co-ordinator aims increased participation of female rugby players, in particular 5-18 years age group, through the facilitation of organised skill sessions in schools; organised competition and tournament modules at both primary and secondary school levels; to also build the bridge between school and club rugby.

Small Sticks is a school based programme for New Zealand children aged 4 ¬to 13, which introduces children to the sport of hockey at the level commensurate with their ability. It develops basic fundamental skills while also introducing hockey specific skills in the appropriate setting and with the Hockey New Zealand recommended game format.
• Four coaching sessions per class delivered by an accredited coach
• A teacher in service training session to familiarise teachers with the basic skills of hockey
• A festival day at the completion of the programme
• A school resource kit, including 30 sticks and 30 balls (valued at $1,400), and coaching resources to keep in your school
• Marketing material to help engage and inform students and their parents

Small Sticks is a Hockey New Zealand participation programme designed to attract children aged 4-13 into hockey and help them develop a lifelong love of the sport. The Small Sticks programme includes progressive development modules and lets children play at a level suitable to their ability in a fun and interactive environment. Quality delivery from trained coach, teacher training, in school resources including teachers manual, hockey sticks and balls.

Shuttle Time is an innovative programme aimed at getting kids in schools active and learning to play badminton. Sessions are aimed at ages 6 - 18. Shuttle Time is a Badminton World Federation coaching initiative that is broken down into 3 levels, bronze, silver and gold. This encompasses fundamental skills to create a pathway for player development and learning.

The Wellington Region Fundamental Movement Skill Project aims to increase the skill level of primary aged children across the greater Wellington region which will in turn enable them to participate confidently and effectively in sport throughout life. The project also aims to build the capacity and capability of sports to deliver at the grassroots level, and support the professional development of teachers and volunteers to ensure sustainability. A strength of this project is that it brings together schools, sports organisations, councils, providers of sport and communities with a common goal. The Wellington Region KiwiSport Fundamental Movement Skills Project provides opportunities for primary schools to participate in programmes such as: Swimming, Football, moveMprove and Get Set Go.

Pedal Ready is a cycle skills programme provided to schools across the greater Wellington region. Training involves a bike and helmet safety check, bike handling skills and exercises to build cycling confidence in preparation for all their future riding – whether it is out with friends or family, on the BMX track, mountain biking, or riding on the road. Through Kiwi Sport funding from Sport Wellington, Pedal Ready offers cycle skills training FREE to all schools in the greater Wellington region.

The Generic Entry Level Coaching Course aims to provide greater accessibility to generic coaching courses currently being delivered by sport to parents, students and volunteers with an interest in coaching. The courses have been evaluated by Sport Wellington as covering the basics of coaching and providing participants with essential coaching skills and confidence. Led by College Sport Wellington, this project aims to provide new sporting opportunities for secondary school students through partnerships with new or developing sports, such as table tennis, handball, futsal, bowls and ultimate frisbee. The main objective of this project is to increase participation levels across sport but more specifically increase the number of new participants to sport.
