About Move the Nation is a free exercise challenge allowing classrooms as a group to creatively, yet physically move the length of New Zealand.
This challenge will last for the 4 weeks of Push Play Month and can include all physical activity both in and outside of school time. Schools have the option to use the homework physical activity recording sheet provided, for children to record out of school activity if they choose.
It’s simple, 10 minutes of any continuous physical activity equates with 1 km travelled along New Zealand. Your class may even be able to move the length of the nation two or three times!
Teachers – collect the totals for each day for your class and add it to the master sheet. At the end of 4 weeks send in your totals and be in to win a number of prizes. | |
As an extra competition to support your activity and encourage innovation, throughout the month of Push Play, send in creative ways that your class/school has moved along the nation.
The categories for competitions are: - Most innovative movement within the school or class
- Best photo of movement within the school or class
- Most interesting poem or piece of creative writing expressing movement with original presentation.
- Most entertaining and original Video / DVD / CD of movement which could include music, song, dance, drama or other.
- Largest distance covered for a large school – 10 classes or more
- Largest distance covered for a small school – up to 3 classes
- Largest distance covered for a medium school – 4 – 9 classes
