I played rugby and cricket as a school boy and rugby to representative level in my early 20's. I then took up refereeing when my job forced me to give up playing, I refereed for 20 years. I then took up running marathons at 36 and have completed 75. In 1996 I took up duathlon and since then represented NZ at seven Duathlon World Championships, two Triathlon World Championships and Ironman.
I'm passionate about sport and the need for children to learn the fundamental skills at an early age and encourage team sport at primary school as a good way to learn communication skills and working together.
