Disabled Sports Expo ~ Saturday 23 February (10am-2pm)

Parafed Wellington is hosting a  Disabled Sports Expo at the ASB Sports Centre, Kilbirnie, Wellington

Saturday 23 February (10am - 2pm)

Our aims for the Expo are:

    1. to provide an opportunity for physically disabled people in Wellington to come and find out what sport and recreation opportunities are available for them in the Wellington Region
    2. to showcase what opportunities and activities are currently provided by Wellington sports groups and organisation which accommodate physically disable (this is where we think you can help us)
    3. to enable those people interested in physically disabled sport to meet with other likeminded people
    4. to provide a forum for those sports clubs and groups who don't know how to accommodate physically disabled into their activities to come and talk with those groups who have been successful in integrating our requirements

We want to make it as active and dynamic as possible so we will be showcasing Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Basketball - including some of our National representatives from the Wellington Region playing exhibition games during the Expo.  We will also be having equipment available for people to try.

We would like you to be part of this Expo to showcase your sport and recreation opportunities - bring equipment along people can try - bring information on your organisation - bring an open mind and a fun sense of humour.

There is NO COST involved in being part of this Expo.

This is not a Trade Show, so we will not be having suppliers and commerical exhibitors at the Expo.

We also invite you to forward this invitation to other organisations so we can spread the word on what we are doing.

Please feel free to contact us about the Expo, but we will be back in touch with you in the early new year to confirm your involvement as an exhibitor, supporter and participant in this event.

2017 Wellington Hospitality Group Sportsperson of the Year Awards - presented by Sport Wellington. Wednesday 14 June - TSB Bank Arena Congratulations to all of the 2017 finalists and winners!

20 years of Green Prescription! On Monday 19 June, Dr Jonathan Coleman - Minister of Health and Minister of Sport and Recreation along with representatives from the local DHB, PHOs, Sport New Zealand, Sport Wellington and the Ministry of Health celebrated the 20th anniversary of Green Prescription. More than 400,000 Green Prescriptions (GRx) have been given out over the last 20 years to help people get active and change their diets. Sport Wellington is proud to deliver this programme across the greater Wellington region in partnership with the region’s District Health Boards. We have been involved with GRx since 1998, and during this time we have supported a significant proportion of the 500,000 New Zealanders who have benefited from the programme, increasing their levels of physical activity and improving their nutrition.

Sport Wellington would like to thank all of the amazing volunteers in our community that contribute their time, skills and passion to sport and recreation. #NVW2017
