Active Families Co-ordinator

Sport Wellington Region is approaching its 18th year of supporting the sport and physical recreation sector. This vibrant and diverse organisation is looking for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person to join their team.

This is a collaborative project between SWR, SPARC and Capital PHO. The aim of this role is to recommend, motivate and support social populations of children and their families. This aim is achieved through:

• planning and provision of physical activities.
• working closely with individual families to create physical activity plans.
• assessing and evaluating progress.
• encouragement, confidence and education to child and family.

Experience in motivations interviewing and working with diverse ethnic groups is important as is an understanding of health promotion principles and practices. Previous experience working with children and families essential. Strong communication and counseling skills as well as a qualification in physical activity or health are essential.
