The purpose of this award is to recognise the valuable work provided by umpires, referees, judges, officials and volunteers at all levels in our sporting community. The award is open to all officials and volunteers.

April 2008
Congratulations to Chris Gower who organised a Karate tour to Japan for 21 students, aged between 6 and 16 years, from the Mt. Victoria Dojo. Fundraising has taken four years and included Japanese language lessons as the tour was for cultural reasons, as well as participating in a karate tournament.

Congratulations to Kathy Dunn who volunteers a huge amount of time and energy for the Onslow Gymnastics club. Kathy fulfils numerous roles, from President to coaching as well as organising all the club competition.

Congratulations to Peter Chapman who has umpired cricket in Wellington for 25 years. His honesty, fairness and sense of humour are ideal attributes which have contributed to a wonderful voluntary role. He has overcome a serious illness which sidelined him for two years, however his commitment and determination has seen him return to good health and umpiring Wellington men's senior competition matches.
January 2008
Congratulations to Peter Carrington who officiates for the Hutt Valley Softball Association. Peter is a volunteer umpire for the Presidents grade through to the Premier grade for both the men's and women's competitions, mid-week and Saturday's. Peter also volunteered three weeks of his time to assist in the renovations of the Hutt Valley Softball Association Office.

Congratulations to Stuart Fraser who freely gives his time to conduct traffic management courses for the cycling and triathlon clubs in the Wellington region. These courses train people to ensure that these sports have safe events for the participants and spectators.
