Primary School Connect - Wednesday, 3 June
The purpose of this week’s Primary School Connect was to provide an opportunity for connection across the primary school sector and to look at the links between schools and sport together as we move through Level 2.
We had three speakers who spoke from different perspectives: Tara Fevre (Hutt City Council) gave an interschool perspective as a representative from the Lower Hutt Primary School Sport Association; Ella Pudney (Sport Wellington) spoke about the messaging that is being shared with Regional Sports Organisations currently around the Balance is Better concept, and Matt Pegg (Konini School) provided a school’s perspective around what role they can play when working and collaborating with external providers.
Some thinking was posed around how we can work closely together toward a common goal of improving tāmariki wellbeing through quality physical activity experiences. In this unsettling time, it has been identified that we have an opportunity to step forward, make any adaptions, if required, and understand the role each of us can play to ensure we have a great primary school sport system set up across the greater Wellington region.
Primary School Connect - Thursday, 14 May
We hosted the first of our regular Primary School Connects. The purpose of this conversation was to gain an understanding of what is currently front and centre within the primary school context and to determine together what the best way is to move forward collectively in this COVID-19 environment. Based on the insights gathered during this connect, Sport Wellington is currently working to develop their primary school support plan.

As schools return and look to resume sport, it's important to have Health & Safety plans for sport at Alert Level 2 in place.
Whitby Collegiate have kindly provided the following example of their Health and Safety planning, and we have created a template version of this for you to download and adapt to your own setting as you see fit.
