Wellington Round the Bays

Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays 2019 Starting Line

Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays - 16 Feb 2020

The Brendan Foot Supersite Round the Bays event is Wellington’s iconic fun run/walk. Our 2020 event will be held on Sunday 16th February. There are options for all ages and abilities which means the whole family can get involved.

Our course options include a 6.5km fun run/walk, 6.5km buggy walk, 6.5km active families course, 10km or half marathon. Participants will make their way around Wellington’s iconic bays towards Kilbirnie park. This part of the course is interactive and fun, with lots of opportunities on the way to enter competitions, be sprayed by water guns, serenaded by bands and enjoy the view! For those competing in our 6.5 km events, your journey will come to an end at Kilbirnie Park where you can spend an hour or two at our family friendly finishers’ festival!

If 6.5 km is not enough, our 10 km runners and walkers will continue to our Miramar turning point, and then head back to Kilbirnie Park.

For those keen runners and walkers competing in the half marathon, your course will continue all the way to Scorching Bay where you will turn around and return to the finishers’ festival to celebrate.

It's an iconic Wellington event!

From its early roots as a charity fun run organised by Rotary, Sport Wellington took over the management and delivery of the event in 1999.

Wellington Round the Bays has evolved over the years into an iconic, much loved regional Wellington event.

When Sport Wellington took over in 1999 the number of participants was 2,900. The event has since had substantial growth over the years with the addition of various participant options (the Half Marathon category was added in 2009, the Buggy Walk category in 2015 and the Active Families category in 2017). As a result, there are now normally 13,000+ participants taking part.

We aim to inspire runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to participate, challenge themselves and enjoy the experience! We want our participants to have a memorable and enjoyable experience from the time they arrive at our event, until the time they are home again.
