The Dominion Post Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards 2010

The awards evening took place at the Wellington Town Hall on Thursday 3rd June.

The night was a huge success, highlighted by an inspiring and entertaining interview between Keith Quinn and Sir Murray Halberg, in celebration of 50 years since Sir Murray's gold medal victory at the Rome Olympics.

Ricki Herbert took out the Sportsperson of the year supreme award, with Paula Tesoriero winning the Sports Woman and Karl Purdie winning the Sportsman of the Year.

Sport Wellington Buggy Walk 2010

Thursday 7th October - Botanic Gardens

The Sport Wellington Buggy Walk event is aimed at mothers, fathers, grandparents and caregivers with children under the age of 5.

Monthly walks are held around the region on the first Thursday of each month, with a main event in October of each year. 2009 saw 800 children, parents, grandparents and caregivers attend.

The 2010 Heart Foundation Heart Walkers Event

The 3rd Heart Foundation Heart Walkers organised by Sport Wellington is taking place at Waitangi Park on Saturday 13th November.

The event is a 5km fun walk around the Wellington waterfront. Starting at Waitangi Park, the course works its way around to the TSB Arena, then back along the waterfront to Oreintal Bay, and then back to Waitangi Park.

Stay around at Waitangi Park after the walk for free entertainment, food and prize draw, in the relaxed picnic like atmosphere.

Last year over 800 people participated in the event helping to raise funds and awareness for the Heart Foundation and heart disease in New Zealand.

Wellington Round the Bays 2011

The date has been set for the 2011 Wellington Round the Bays and New Balance Half Marathon.
